Verify Segmentations and Hologram

Segmentations should always be verified by clinicians in LumiNE US by outline analysis on the source medical image, since false positive and negative segmentation regions can occur. Follow these steps to verify the segmentations:

  1. After segmentation has been completed, you are prompted with a popup which enables you to verify the segmentations. Press Verify Segmentations

  2. In the Verification Workflow, each structure created by automatic segmentation can individually be verified. Scroll through the slices and see the outline of the 3D model projected on the slices to assess the accuracy. Select one of the following options:

    • Verify: the structure is segmentated accurately and can directly be verified

    • Edit: the structure has some inaccuracies and requires some adjustments. You will enter Shape Edit mode

    • Skip: the structure can be skipped for now, you will assess the accuracy later

    • Discard: the structure can be removed from the hologram

  3. After completing the Verification Workflow, the verification status of the hologram will be stored (Verified or Unverified), including the user who verified the segmentations and the date on which this was done

After conducting a thorough outline analysis, the user can address false positive and false negative segmentations by taking following steps. Please refer to Segmentation Performance section for essential details.

Hologram History and Revision Selection

The stored verification status, the user who created the hologram and the date the hologram was saved are stored in the Hologram History overview. This overview is accessible by navigating to the Details section in the bottom bar of the 3D viewer.

  • The most recent hologram version is displayed on top

  • The active hologram version is highlighted in green

  • Older hologram versions can be reloaded by selecting the version

  • The green checkmark at the hologram version indicates that that specific version was Verified. If the checkmark is still grey, it indicates that that version is Unverified.

  • Each hologram version is displayed with the data and time the hologram was saved and the name of the user who saved the hologram

  • The options menu allows you to set that hologram version to active, download the data file of the hologram, or delete the hologram version.
